NCEARD – National Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research on Diets

NCEARD

The National Centre of Excellence and Advanced Research on Diets (NCEARD) established in 2018 within the Department of Food and Nutrition at Lady Irwin College, New Delhi with start up support from UNICEF is a technical assistance resource centre to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India on research and policy formulation for women's nutrition.

Center for Nutrition Studies has partnered with NCEARD during the development of maternal nutrition toolkit (NCEARD Toolkit).

With the financial support from UNICEF, Center for Nutrition along with Department of Community Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Yenepoya Medical College, and Yenepoya Nursing College, collaborated with NCEARD in implementation of maternal nutrition algorithm for the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA).

The faculty at the Center for Nutrition Studies has been involved in the Capsular Course on Nutrition Epidemiology: Module 3 - Nutritional Assessment Methods (Details).

McGill University

McGill University

Dr. Anurag Bhargava has been appointed as an Associate Member of the McGill International TB Centre in 2016 and has been associated in this capacity since then. He is also an Adjunct Professor of the Department of Medicine, McGill University since 2017.

The Center has received financial support from Dr Madhukar Pai at the McGill International TB Centre for the past 3 years in support of its research activities.

The Center for Nutrition Studies developed a mobile application called N-TB for the nutritional assessment and care of undernourished patients with TB in collaboration with the McGill International TB Centre in 2018. This application is available free of charge on Google Play and Apple Store.

Dr. Anurag Bhargava was invited as a faculty member at the McGill Summer Institute course on "Quality of TB Care" in June 2021.

Central TB Division and NTEP

Central TB Division

The Center for Nutrition Studies along with experts from the Central TB Division, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, St John's Research Institute, National Institute of Nutrition, and stake holders from State TB Cell across India developed a Guidance Document on Nutrition Care and Support for patients with tuberculosis.

The program also endorses and recommends the use of the N-TB app for nutrition assessment and care for the primary care providers with training slide deck available at the Central TB Division Website.
